So ... a 17' inch monitor can't do higher than 1600x1200?
I've got a monitor, i think it's smaller than 14', and it can't do higher than 800x600 in wind0ze.

In linux, it can run 1024x768 with svgalib  :D

it all depends on the way it was designed. Usually, though, 17" monitors get 1600*120 or below.
