ok, but that russian remark was racist, and sarcasm or not, racism is not good, and personally i don't think it belongs here, even in the lounge.

this time it wasn't hurtful, and i suspect was tongue in cheek, but if i was here more often i'd be watching for racist remarks and dealing them a heavy hand. i still mod this forum, and if racism, or gay bashing, or sexism or whatever comes up and i see it, then 'FUCK'. that's all i can say........

Yeah, and it was ill-considered.  I didn't intend it to sound the way it came out, but after re-reading it, I'm not real proud of it.  I STILL don't consider it Racist per se, but more a reflection on ethnicity (Russia, like the US is  multi-racial society), but it was a hurtful remark.

however i am fairly sure that creedon is not a racist, however everybody is prone to making the odd non PC remark, however you know we must remember that everything we type here on the forums is more or less set in stone! so it is easy to come off as saying something you didn't actually mean.

The russian one is a little sticky since historically many USA people have been racist against the russians and since so many USA people populate the internet it has become a "thing".

I said that not even bothering to check if creedon is from the US, and i must say, creedon, no offence intended to you, i know you are not a racist (i think!) however i hate those prejudiced bastards too...

Calumn, don't confuse racism toward Russian people with being against the old communist Russian government. I don't believe race had much to do with anything there (I was in the USAF during the cold war stationed in Germany when the wall came down). I don't remember any of my buddies making racist Russian remarks nor had anything against the Russian people. Now sure the term "commie" floated around. Correct me if I am wrong but that is not a racist remark. It is a remark against a governmental persuasion.

And I knew many people of Russian and Polish decent and they were treated no differently than people of any other decent. In fact MOST Americans are decendants from Europe and other countries (most of my family came from Germany, Prussia, and a few others around 100 years ago, not that long). In fact it isn't much different than using the term "Nazi". I use that term often but I am not referring to Germans when I use it, hell I am 3/4 German. I am referring to the practices not the race.

The worst racism in America is probably toward African American people and Mexican people to a lesser extent. Now it isn't nearly as bad as it once was and I have hope that it will be a non-issue in the near future. Of course it is unlikely that racism can be wiped out completely.

Well an expatriate is somebody who has left there country/homeland to take residence elsewhere (a foreign country to them).
In England we often abbreviate expatriate to Ex-pat.

Sporkme/bob, thank you for your "constructive" post. I really thought that an intelligent person like you or anyone else in here (equally intelligent as you)would resort in some more constructive arguments to answer to my post, like Calum for example.

As you may have understood, I'm not here to insult people (unlike some others), but to try and express my arguments as clearly as possible. I'm also here to try and help as many people as possible to live without M$. But that doesn't mean that I won't stand up even for M$ supporters when I see that they are being bluntly insulted on a personal or even racial level. To your disappointment, I've taken part in many rallies and protests against racism. And yes I've stood up against racists! I've thrown stones and molotov bombs against racist groups! Talk about making a stand hah?

P.S. Do you know what a Bolshevik is?

Number one; I don't have any problem with you considering my remark racist, but I'd like you to re-read my post that clatified the remark- I was not making a statement about his race, it was his national origin- as far as I know, that's NOT racist.
Number two; I DON'T condone racisim in any way whatsoever; I don't like the idea that you could typify ANYONE by skin color; here in the United States, we went through, and are GOING through a period where there was great tension between races.  It's never done any American any good, no matter what their color.
Number three; Yes, I do know what a Bolshivek is; I also know what a Menshevek is; do you?  Do you know who Alixsander Kerensky was?  I met him in 1962.
