New VIA C3 1.0 GHz Processor

Article can be found here

Here is info on Padlock from VIA

Here is a snip from the article

quote:
In fact, VIA says, the new C3's PadLock data encryption engine makes it the first x86 CPU with embedded security features to reach the market. PadLock helps ensure the confidentiality and authenticity of stored or Internet-transmitted data with a new x86 instruction that taps a built-in random number generator, which uses electrical noise on the chip to generate random values of higher quality with greater speed than software-based random number generators.

I am kind of following VIA a little as I am interested in seeing what another processor manufacturer can do in the market, but does the above quote sound at all like Palladium? Sorry I mean next-generation secure computing base. Just curious to see what anyone else thinks/knows about this or if you even care haha.

Doesn't sound like Palladium...nor does it sound harmful.
