i thought oyster cult were a bit samey. If into that stuff, i recommend rainbow, deep purple (esp their 1969 debut, Shades Of...), smashing pumpkins (of course), aerosmith (yes, their earlier albums), mountain (what a fucking band) and canned heat (get some live stuff, preferably the woodstock stuff)...

the list goes on...

fuck! forgot about Grand Funk! (later called Grand Funk Railroad) get their first two albums! and also get everything by Ten Years After as well.

It always amazes me when this topic gets brought up; "I can't find any good music".  FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, music has been recorded all over the world for well over a hundred years!!  If anyone so so jaded they can't find SOMETHING they haven't heard before, they'd better pop their eardrums with a sharp pencil, 'cause that;s pretty damned sad.
Check out some early blues; listen to some TRUE geniuses; listen to some Bach, learn what the human mind is capable of; get a copy of some ethnic folk music, that stuff is dying, it might be the only way anyone will ever hear that ancient music again.
THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF POSSIBILITIES!!  Just because it isn't mindless corporate music, that shouldn't put anyone off, remember, by the time you hear it, it's not cutting edge anymore; the best way is to listen to something you've never heard before; maybe you won't like it- if not, try something else.

for some good drum & bass/jungle music, look for Andy C, Aphrodite, Tech Itch, Decoder, Kosheen (which is produced by Tech itch, and decoder) DJ Marky. Dj DB is good for some 'chill' Drum & Bass. These artists dont just Dj, they actually create the music that Djs like Dieselboy and Ak1200 spin. DJ Dara spins good records also. Freaky Flow from toronto spins good jungle. If you can find it, real speed garage cant be beat, but it is hard to find. Good house music like mark farina, or DJ Dan. Break beats from DJ Icey. Dimitri from paris for some fun funky disco house music. You know, there really is too much for me to list here. I went into this post thinking i could post a few good artists, but there are way too many. I lean more towards D&B for music, but i listen to pretty much anything, from Fugazi to the Roots, to some of our kick-ass local bands (KeyserSoze, they rock    ). shit, i can almost get into the vibe of any style of music.
