Patriot: One who loves, supports, and defends one's country.

Patriotism: Love of and devotion to one's country.

As for the rest of the post, nice virtues but you're just making it up.

I'd be just making it up if there weren't people who believe and live like that, but there are, although you can probably count them on your fingers.

No, I never said patriotism was "another form of" racism; I was simply using an analogy. I was pointing out that patriotism/nationalism is by definition "blind". I could have said "it's like saying there's a difference between being a Christian and a *blind* Christian."

I don't really understand any of the points you made. I see the value in aspiring to do all of those things, but I don't understand the restriction of "your country" that's been added to them. If you don't think your country should be put above others then why bother having countries at all? And are you a conservative by any chance?

No, I'm neither a conservative nor a liberal by standard definitions. And you're still missing the point: "your country" is not a restriction at all. Think about all that again in this context.

It's kind of like when you actually do hear of some volunteer in a third-world country risking his life to save a bunch of people from being slaughtered, you're proud to be from the same country that volunteer is. That's really all I can tell you if you still don't understand.
