windows vs linux

I think linux is a great alternative to MS Windows. and most certianly not becuase it is simply not MS Windows, but because it is a great end user OS. people seem to like to be able to personalize stuff, i can't think of many things as personalizable (is this a word?) than linux. sure it started out a bit hard to use and it wold be sweet if hardware vendors would help more, but it is a very usable OS and is getting more usable everyday. i don't see it as linux vs. microsoft, but more as "damn i wish i could use linux everywhere". i know there are MacOS users who feel the same way I do about MacOS.

I think that many people on this site would not be able to resist posting antimicrosoft posts in the 'i love microsoft' forum, and the genuine M$licking fanboys wouldn't get a word in edgewise...

Yes! Yes! And that is exactly the reason why this should be done.
For those that do not see any reason behind my enthusiasm, let me elucidate.
I used M$ products since about 1985, DOS, win2.0, 3.1, 95 .... you get the idea.
I know, nothing is perfect. But the sad fact is that their shoddy products did cost me a lot of time when I had to recreate things, some lost for good, it definitely aged me by 5 years during 10 years period (meaning that thanks to M$ I am actually 15 years older than I would be without their deceitfull ways) because of not knowing if Il be able to finish projects within deadline, or just because I would get so angry that I'll almost get to a point of grabbing an ax or a machette and trash that box that nobody would be able to put it back together.
You have no idea (maybe you do)...
It is a payback time. The least I can do is to vent all that got stored in years through good laugh, bashing Redmonks right and left, symbolically. Or you think that nuking Redmond would bring much more satisfaction? Well, maybe it would, but it is not available to me, so that's off. :D
