You mean in Panther? I use Jaguar at school, and the smiling doubleface is still there.

If it's true, then that's a shame. I'll miss it...

From time to time I think about changing my sig around, but I think I like how it is for now.

it's still the smiley, but it's been revamped and looks more in line with Aqua's current appearance

Oh, just like in other versions of OS X, then. But he did use the aqua version of the smiley, didn't he? It just looked that way because of the bad image.
