Beware: New virus/worm attack has begun!

(1/2) > >>

Xeen:
The news warned of an imminent worm attack and they were right. I just recieved 6 emails all at once - 3 spams and 3 viruses. They all claim to be from Microsoft, offering the latest "patches". But it's easy to tell theyre fakes and Norton did a good job detecting it (not like I was gonna open the attachments anyway). They all look like this:

They were all infected with the worm Worm.Automat.AHB (not sure what it does)

The file names are: INSTALL115.exe, install.exe, and Q752167.exe

BEWARE WHEN READING YOUR EMAIL!!!! I have no clue how these fuckers got my email address.

I had that e-mail too and I opened it... it didn't work... KDE said that there wasn't any program binded to *.exe...

MS doesn't ever ever email patches.  They will sometimes email a security advisory to their registered customers, but these legit emails will only point to the MS website where the patch can be downloaded.
