Yes if you take poverty to mean "not having money" but money isnt important - what it gets you is. Just by becoming a communist country you do not lower the amount of resources your country has, nor will other countries stop trading with you. You can still give off all those useless rocks your country has for another countries food and other crap you want so its not like you have less resources at your disposable - just a different way of distributing those resources.

Have you read Aesop's fable of the Wind and the Sun? It's quite simple so even a republican should be able to understand it. The article said that the war against terrorism was bogus. Terrorism does indeed exist, but Bush's 'war against terrorism' is only an excuse to execute his political agenda.
Terrorism is the result of colonial western countries meddling in the affairs of other countries, and the poverty of Middle East countries comes from the West messing up their economy by grabbing their ressources. Essentially, the fallacious rhetoric of Bush and the PNAC neo-conservatives is that they are going to bring global peace under the American behest by going to war against the very problem they caused in the first place.
