AOL mocks French.

WMD:
(never saw this thread before....)

Sorry Laukev7, I found some of these funny.  But I think, hey, they're just jokes.  Besides, AOL sucks anyway, this doesn't prove it anymore than always  :D

It seems like humans find jokes against people of other countries funny by nature.  But I doubt that the joke-tellers were ever really that serious.

Laukev7:
Okay, Great_Satan, at least you posted something decent, but why did you revive a four-months old thread?

And WMD, whether these 'jokes' are funny or not (frankly, I find them trite and repetitive), whether the joke tellers were serious or not, who told the joke or about whom the joke is, is not the issue. Putting any racist or xenopĥobic joke on a mainstream website (and especially such downright insulting jokes), whether it's Belgian jokes in France, Newfie jokes in Quebec, Irish jokes in the UK, on a mainstream publication like AOL is unexcusable.

It's not like it's a few random jokes amongst many others, either. Neither are they even part of a collection of jokes making fun of foreign countries. Rather, they made a section specifically for anti-French platitudes, along with entirely unrelated collections, not even part of a foreign jokes section (in fact, they didn't even have the decency to be fair and include jokes about other nationalities).

It's clear that these 'jokes' were more intended to be attacks on the French people for having objected to the war against Iraq, rather than just for fun. These jokes are way too political. France has a very rich culture, and I bet there are many better jokes you can make about the French than that rubbish.

I personally wouldn't mind if people made jokes about Quebec or Canada; by all means make fun of our climate, our expressions, our culture, our PM Jean Chr

Yeah, you're right.  That's kinda like having the NY Times putting French jokes in there...

It seems that Leno told most of those, so it should've been left there, and not repeated on a major website.

Two men walked into a bar. One was Jaques Chirac. The other was George W. Bush. Chirac picked up a crow bar and faded Bushy a good one, then laughed in his face, and so did I because Bush is a lying sack of shit and I enjoyed seeing him get faded

This doesn't make any sense

ie: www.aol.fr

There's AOL France.
Insulting the french is a conflict of interest.
