FREEDOM OF SPEECH, GODDAMMIT!!!!!
Pissed_Macman:
This is what I originally sent to the webmaster at ihateapple.com:
quote:Webmaster of ihateapple.com,
Here at http://www.macrevolution.tk , we regret to
inform you that your "great" site, ihateapple.com, has
been flamed! View the flame at
http://www.angelfire.com/mac/macrevolution/rantings/ihateapple.html
Our condolences,
The Staff of the Macintosh Revolution

This is what I got back some days later:
quote:Macman,
I don't know of the admins at Ihateapple.com have told you this or not, so I figured I would. You sent them a supposedly unsolicited e-mail to them telling them about Ihateapple.com being flamed. Just FYI, that is a violation of Angelfire's TOS, and if Angelfire finds out, you could get shut down. Just letting you know....
P.S. This is Jacob from the site you ping-bombed.
--- End quote ---
I'm rather confused about this. How could expressing my own opinion about something and then informing it of my opinion break any rules. In the Lycos Terms and Conditions it said this:
quote: Lycos further reserves the right to terminate any user's access to the Lycos Network or to any of the Products and Services for any conduct that Lycos, in its sole discretion, believes is or may be directly or indirectly harmful to other users, to Lycos or its subsidiaries, affiliates, or business contractors, or to other third parties, or for any conduct that violates any local, state, federal, or foreign laws or regulations.
--- End quote ---
Telling someone that I insulted them (even though I thought the flame was pretty fair) isn't harmful and breaks no laws. Sure, it was slander, but last time I checked it was perfectly within my rights to slander people all I want. And insulting a website cannot possibly count as libel.
Am I right here?
Pantso:
I think you're right but then again, why bother with those pathetic imbeciles?
Doctor V:
What a retarted site! I don't understand why anyone would hate macs. What motivation could there possibly be? The guy who sent you the mail is just a baby.

From an IHA regular,
I'm not an admin from IHA but would just like to clarify that little email. It was sent by one of our more retarded members, unfortunatly, who doesn't know what he is talking about for the most part. You can feel free to disregard it.
The sensativity to being spammed or flamed from other sites arose from an incident a while back in which there was an organised effort by the members of this site to exicute a DOS attack against IHA forums through excessive trolling and posting the same line over and over. They had already propegated similar efforts at PCMech forums prior to this even and IHA admin was tipped off. The site's providor was notified of the violation of TOS and JulesTM Forums were disabled for a period of time. They were re-activated on the contingency that their behavior would be spotless.
The email sent to the Admin at IHA was misleading in that it called the review a "flame." That review was nothing more, and does not qualify as a flame; it is merely a review, interesting and reasonably informative if not entirely unbiased. Most of the content at IHA is from a bygone era. The site, ihateapple.com was once owned and operated as a hate site; at this time IHA is undergoing preliminary work for a total face lift and/or content gut. (Think hunting gut.) I'd describe it as an anti-advocacy site, but the forums are the heart and soul of the domain. It is a community of folks who enjoy each others comments and concerns for just about any issue whether it be news related, political, social, personal/emotional, and even technical (gasp!). The web master is a Mac user, and most if not all the forum themes are designed by one of our resident maccies, on a mac. At least 40% of the regulars have a mac as their primary computer and many if not most of the others either own or use, on a regular basis, a Macintosh. The broad consensus is that all platforms are all fine and dandy. It's just that every body has their own sense of style and preference and place different importance on the different aspects of the computer experience.
Why keep ihateapple.com if we don't all REALLY hate Apple? Lazy. Why bother? Stuck in a rut? Tradition? Old times sake?
Yea. Basically that.

I think "Jacob" sucks Bill Gate's cock. There is no other explanation.
OOoooohh, why don't you sue *me* for slander now, you big kumquat??
It's times like this I wish I'd make use of all the unmonitored computers in my dorm building and send anonymous goatse.cx links mixed with death threats or some viruses.
