Whilest the Amiga was a nice system in it's day I can't see it regaining it's popularity.

Why would anyone buy it?

because if the software has a solid model, the hardware is being updated and there is a 'killer' app for it (ie: if it turns out you can do things better on it than on something else) then it will stay around. BeOS tried to make itself the killer must have for sound and video, it failed, for a variety of reasons. i think the new amiga concept might go a different road, and maybe it will fail, but i hope it gains a nice little niche market, and i suspect it might eat into apple's share of the market more than anybody else's. it'd be nice to see the new software be back compatible with old hardware in some way too, i haven't looked into it yet, but to me the possibilities sound quite good.

i just think it's nice that there is more out there for people than just shitey old windows rehashes and myriad *nix clones, variety is the etc of etc as they say...
