I know the difference.
One thing before I continue. MAC does not mean macintosh, MAC is a networking term. Mac = Macintosh.
Apple makes hardware, just like sun, and they have a proprieraty, yet open source system, that runs on that hardware almost seamlessly, something that Solaris and MacOS have been doing for some time now, unlike M$ Windex, and certain linuxen that are a pain in the arse to set up.
I DO know about all the free linux, BSD and DOS OSes that exist. I Frequent this site, linux.org and Freeos.com, and as a matter of fact have a long list of FreeOSes which I have downloaded and installed at some point or another on my spare PC (which only sees third party OS action for the past 2 years).
Finally, LETS NOT TURN THIS THREAD INTO LINUX AND HOW GREAT IT IS BECAUSE ITS "FREE" .... the point is not to bash other OSes here, the point is to look to Alternatives to Windex that work for each one of us.
