Anti-TCPA movement.

<< < (3/9) > >>

psyjax:
I'm thinking of making the site a publicity and information Hub. Linking and archiving info on TCPA and Palladium and making it a big hit target on the web.

I wan't to pen articles and have contributions relating to the dangers of this new threat. Anyone got any suggestions for content?

The proverbial "what should I say?" type question  :D

David:
psyjax, i'm in dude.

i have an empty iDisk also, plus i'm gonna get an angelfire or something shortly so if anyone wants to help set up a site, my ICQ is 21619407.  i would suggest that everyone who wants to get involved post their ICQ numbers on here and we can hold a meeting on there and discuss how best to get started...

the important thing first of all is to get organised... then we can get a site up and publicize it, lots of places will link us.

if we even get the most basic facts about palladium out to the general public, they will ditch it.  everyone wants mp3s, if nothing else!

i put a proposal together for the Free Software Foundation outlining some details that could be added to the GPL as a safeguard for open source software when palladium comes.  if anyone knows someone in the legal profession, that'd be helpful too.

so who's in???  message or email me!  we'll set up a meet as soon as there are some interested parties.

lazygamer:
Ok d00dz, TCPA=Blah. Im in! Problem is, what could I do?

Interscope:
Death to TCPA.

psyjax:
Cool.

Hehe... I haven't been on the board for a while so I havent seen these responses, but anyway.

I don't want to pull anything Militant, I just want to promote awareness among common user as to the threat this sort of thing poses for them. Get the word out that TCPA is potentialy the most dangerous thing to happen to technology and should be stoped.

We should get usesers to write M$ and other companies asking them not to move forward with this new agenda.

My proposal is to set up a site containing all the information concerning TCPA. Pose some inteligent arguments against it, them mirror that site across the web, to garner high visibility. This is what I am interested in.

What I want folks to do in this thread is start posting info, articles, essays, you got it. I'm going to start building the page tonight with the stuff I already have. I will upload it and submit it for review by you guys.

Then you, or anyone, can mirror it on their own site and Add to it as they wish. The point is to make the issue as visble as possible.

So, go ahead guys! You don't need me to start something   :D

Anyway, start posting links and anything you think is usefull and I'll work it into the page.

WarCraft III is ariving at my doorstep in two days, so I better get cracking on a page ASAP   ;)

P.s. Also, getting people to write to the Media as well as the Tech. Media about this concern is not a bad idea. If enugh people are interested the news will have to cover the story. Kinda like Amnisty International for computers or something.
