« on: 13 June 2004, 23:42 »
The RIAA now wants the FCC to enforce radio stations to implement DRM technologies into their broadcasts so that people with digital radio services cannot record and distribute the music.

I can always connect my speaker output to my tape recorder (professional one, not MC or 8-track).
How'd you stop THAT?  :D

I lot of radio stations (here at least) have the announcer keep talking during the first 15 seconds of the song.  Much more practical than DRMing something...

RIAA wants anything that gives them more control over content and removes rights from the users.

Easy...all they have to do for that is broadcast an audio version of Macrovision.

However they don't care about people taping on to analog stuff.

Yes, but no matter how professional the tape recorder is you loose quality while recording and pick up hiss.

Yea, they do that here.  They also play ALOT of ads.  So much so that all it is, is the same d.j. over and over again pretending to be someone else in the ad.  Its damn annoying, expecialy when they get drunk and start talking complete nonsence.

Personal, i've stopped listning to the radio.  I'd rather vistit their 'top 40' list on their site and download the songs I like from that.
