Anyone use the translucency effects with KDE 3.4?
toadlife:
I tried them out, and they looked pretty nice, but they were HORRIBLY slow on my PC. I did some googling and found out about the Option "RenderAccel" "true" setting. I tried that and it seemed to speed things up quite a bit, but myt X-Server constantly crashed. I disabled the effects - but left the RenderAccel setting on as it seems to make my desktop more responsive.
Anyone here using these effects and not experiencing crashes or slowness?

Alpha-channel blending - pretty cool, but it's really just a waste of my time. I don't need extra eye-candy to tell me that Fluxbox does what I need it to do. If you're looking for speed and efficiency, screw KDE.

Who said I was looking for speed an efficiency? If i want that, I won't install X at all. ;)

I saw that bug when Googling. I enabled renderaccel but, I havn't suffered from any problems. The problems start when I enable translucency effects AND renderaccel together.
