given the way this forum's been going, i think that you might even be.

the only reason i have been sticking around is because i still (yes, even now) have faith in some of the staff to resurrect this into a *discussion* forum, rather than an infantile bitchslap forum.

the moment my faith in this ability leaves me, i also leave this board.

however no amount of personal insults (which this is, and as such it is a violation of board rules, and shouldn't even still be here) will convince me that the forums are irretreivably down the crapper.

the only thing that would is if you all unanimously did say you preferred control over free speech.

i think actually you can disregard my last response, and simply read bedouin's response above. I couldn't agree more, and i don't really have anything to add, except that anybody who has lost faith in these forums should simply go elsewhere. for their own good, if not for other people's.

I am sick and tired of all this squabbling about what moderators should and should not be allowed to do. I have been entangled into this a year ago, pressured from both sides to bin or not bin certain threads, and I am not willing to play into that game again.

As long as I moderate in the lounge, I have the right to make my own decisions as to what threads should and should not remain. Since there is no trolling spree going on right now, then I am going to follow Bedouin's libertarian policy, whereby all restrictive rules previously set by Refalm have been rescinded, and only spam should be deleted.

Accordingly, this thread stays in the lounge, as well as the other ones; as annoying as I find those complaints, they do not qualify as spam. But if anyone ever tries to spam the boards to deliberately harrass me or any other moderator, as has happened during the previous flame war, then I will treat all of those posts as spam, no questions asked, and relentlessly. I will not accept the excuse of criticising forum policies; if anyone wants to criticise a moderator, then he should report him to the administrator.

If anyone wants to understand where I'm coming from, then they should take a look at the dead thread zone. I wish to keep the good relations I currently enjoy, and I am not willing to revive a war with any forum member. I want to put an end to those disputes for good, if I can help it.

Fair enough Laukev7, I can see your point.

The reason for my bin request was because this thread started as a flame thread targeted at Calum and I suppose as it hasn't continued as such it can stay and hopefully it will die a natural death soon anyway.
