i agree completely except for the bit where you say to pirate M$ stuff. If you pirate an M$ product it means one more copy of that product out there in the world. That means that product will actively continue to uphold M$' monopoly in the software industry, and that is something that holds everybody back.
If a lot of people pirate then the effect is quite severe.

I have Windows 2000 and Debian Woody on my computer. I use Win2K for video capture and processing, and Debian Woody for everything else.

If Linux ever gets drivers for my TV tuner which are as good as those supplied by the vendor for Win2K, and then VirtualDub gets ported to Linux, it'll be goodbye Windows.
