Hi! I'm quite an old linux user! I've tried a lot of distributions but now i want to try out Debian 3.1. I was amased when i browsed their download site to find 14 cds or more for debian 3.1 r0. i don't know which cd i need to do the install. I's a lot to download all the cds. Can someone help me?
bedouin:
Download the net install CD.
Luanda:
What kind of connection do i need to perform a net install? I have a cable connection of 768kbs and my modem is an usb modem.
jtpenrod:
Most of those 14 CDs contain software. The Deb repository is enormous, and it's doubtful that you would need every bit of it. You can install Deb with just a single CD, then use apt-get to load up on software.
Go here: Daily CD Images to select the ISO file that'll work on your system.
Then see: Debian Home Page for documentation.
