(1/1)

some bum with red shoes:
Couldbody help me setup samba with ether SuSE or mandrake, i promised my parents that i would set up a little file server for them and i dont what to go thrugh the hasles of showing them another protocol (like god forbid ftp:scared: and they just have to use windows and i alredy have them set up with windows network (netbeui) and thats as easu as drag and droping files. so in short google search=shit, was not explaned in network+ certification book, so any thing would be nice thanks

Refalm:
I always managed to get Samba working with the help of Webmin.

Although some hardcore Linux gurus may call you a pussy, it's an easy way to configure Samba.

xyle_one:
I don't know, maybe read the Samba documentation?
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/

When I searched google I found a lot of hits for info on setting up and configuring samba.

Oh yeah, and SWAT was a good tool as well.

.... pussy....

Erm..... I dont have my server up right now or i might have a bit more info. But seriously, if you go with SuSE YaST has a very easy setup utility for the Samba server.

Thats one long ass official documentation... try this one from tldp.org http://tldp.org/HOWTO/SMB-HOWTO.html its a bit more straight forward i think

solemnwarning:
just install samba and edit smb.conf, its not that hard.
