LCDs never flicker, regardless of refresh rate.
Recently my CRT has been hurting my eyes, I fixed this by turning the brightness all the way down. Still pretty visible, and my eyes don't hurt anymore. I'd still like an LCD though - preferably, a Dell 1704FPV.

I'm using a TFT now and it's excellent I'd imadgine that it won't be long before they're cheaper than CRTs. The reason why they were so expensive is because it's hard to manufacture them because there were lots of rejects (often >50% due to bad lines and pixels) but technology is improving this process so it's become more efficient and making them cheeper.

I don't like TFT monitors AT ALL.
I would settle for LCD, for sure. :p
