Microsoft really cannot afford to let Vista be a flop. With all this pressure coming from Apple machines (soon to run on Intel), Google providing superior web services, Linux gaining ground, the impending doom of alternative gaming consoles, etc, they will do everything possible to put out something better than before.

Of course, all of this does not necessarily mean they can stop it from being awful....

Microshaft will eventually do what apple did. Build a new OS on something like FreeBSD or Linux, but make it look like windows in everyway. That what apple did when their os'es became stale. I still would expect to be a piece of shit though.
