The fastest booting live CD in existance ... if only it came in English:
http://www.alpha.co.jp/biz/rdg/ac-knoppix/index_en.html (http://www.alpha.co.jp/biz/rdg/ac-knoppix/index_en.html)
What's more of interest I suppose is the
Live CD Acceleration Toolkit "LCAT"
if only the manual came in English.
Still, having a boot CD boot in just a few seconds is impressive.

Damn that is cool, booting Linux in a few seconds off a CD, now that is a great way to show off Linux to friends in a few seconds.
Hopefully someone will be able to translate it.
-
Yeah ... that's too bad ... I originally though it was in English, I mean the site was in English, so why shouldn't the CD be ? So I downloaded and burned and tried it and it was in Japanese :( I hope they translate it too.
-
Wait ... it is in English ... they forgot to mention this the last time I went there, but ...
English version KNOPPIX can be used by inputting the following boot option. boot:knoppix lang=us
And the LCAT manual is now in English too ... yay

Is there a way to change the name of a thread you already started ... like to (in Japanese and English) instead of (in Japanese) ... ?
-
done :)
(only mods can edit the topic after it's set and for a good reason)
-
oh, ok then

lol I've shown fast linux cd boots to friends (windows zombies), they didn't care. I have to test this out for myself but I doubt it would matter to them still. It's awesome though.
