It seems our "darlings" in Redmond, Washington decided it was too dear for them to make that lovely little item called X-box in the US so they moved it to Hungary. That where and when trouble started for MS. Sales didn

One more scary part of this is the fact that while Flextronics keeps the chinese working like hell, the "brain work" is in Sweden. Yes, the thinking behind X-box is in my country! Here, they are supposed to come up with new ideas for the "black ugly box".

It looks a lot like the makers of clothes. Nike, Adidas and other companies like them have factories in Asia where CHILDREN are sewing and cutting. The clothes are then shipped off to another (richer) country where they sew the brand name on. All in the name of profit...

This is a really stupid move, and not only from the human rights and Chineese "slave" labor perspective or the screw the US economy perspective.  From what I have read, one of the serious problems XBOX has had is reliability and quality control.

China does NOT make high quality goods.

No... the United States does good trading with China, so they'd really think it over a hundred times before attacking China.

Now Iraq on the other hand... they sell oil to the United States at a very high price. Luckily for Bush, a dictator is ruling the country, so he can just attack it in the name of democracy and make Iraq a US loving country.

But when will democracy come to the US?  ;)

It did. George Wasington introduced it, but it was destroyed in the US a few decades later.

I believe we are actually a republic, taking a lot of our ideas from the romans. not a very smart thing i think... considering their fall and everything. democracy was just an idea that passed.

Exactly....Walmart is a shithole of a store, and does not have the lowest prices. It just has a lot of sales because it's marketing targets /*ehem*/ the poor bastards of this country. I swear! When there are 300 people in the layaway line (saw it with my own eyes) ...you have a lot of fucked up people.

Not to be pro-MS in this situation, but you have to think about where the other companies put their shit together.

The microchips inside your machines are probably built in some third-world nation where they treat people just as bad. Apple used to have a manufacturing plant (dunno if they still do) in Malaysia, with pretty rotten working conditions.

FYI, Dell assembles their kit in the States using prison labor.

Just wanted to bring up some points here before you accuse Microsoft of exploiting cheap third-world labor; because, to be honest, damn near every company in North America and Europe does it.

My point exactly. All big corporations have some skeletons to bring forth. So, Dell is using inmates to make their computers? Maybe

nestle too. they are responsible for so many human rights atrocities it doesn't bear thinking about them. a boycott and flood of letters their way would help too.

Oh yes, we can add glaxo-smithkline-beecham, gillette and colgate palmolive too since they all test on animals, which is unnecessary in this day and age and is totally unwarranted when the products concerned are purely cosmetic.

Lets look at this from their perspective.

"Lets make XBox's in Mexico, if we did that we could lose even more money, hey Bill, whaddaya think?"

Really guys.  If I owned a huge multinational company I would exploit cheap labor as well.  And so would all of you.

Moving on.....
I heard from a terrible source that income tax in sweden was terrible, and that some super rich people had as much as 90% tax rate.  Just wanted to know if this was the truth, seeing there seems to be someone who claims to live in sweden that is participating in this ridiculous conversation.

Maybe that 90 % is a not-so-happy business man, there are very high tax rates here on those people

that sounds like a fucking great idea! the day i hear about income tax rates that high for the stupidly rich, i will go out and celebrate. it's not hard to figure out why the higher income tax brackets are nowhere near as high as they should be, but i might move to sweden if that really is the case. if it were me i would make it 100% over a certain amount.

I don't know, what is the point of them starving

Its not like any of the taxes I pay as a super rich swede will ever make it to them.  It will either stay in the country or get spent by rich ethiopian leaders.

very true. what we need is some way to guarantee that aid money actually gets used to build schools and provide water pumps et c for those who really need it. then and only then will i feel good about donating to foreign aid. i always feel uneasy that the money will get entirely filched by people along the chain of supply and will end up in corrupt people's pockets and not being used for the things it was intended for.

They should set up whatever channel of protected supply as a priority so people know they can safely contribute to foreign aid charities et c.

that would be about as much use as starting my own religion.

but seriously folks, how would that help? it would divide people and also i myself would just be another charity with no way of reassuring people that their money was going to the right places. i don't think it's appropriate to put somebody down for suggesting that the system be improved so that poor people can get a better standard of living.

This is way off topic now but it should be.  Microsoft uses cheap Chinese work just as every other gigantimous corporation does.  For example McDonalds (all those dumbass toys are made in china).  And the only reason that they are firing the guys at 25 is because the Chinese Communist government doesn't care about its people.  That doesn't happen in America, you know why.  I can tell you right off the bat it is not because of the corporations big hearts feeling for their individual workers.  Its because our government doesn't allow it.  And like my last post, why  spend more money with chinese unions or spend less money by firing them when they can create a union.  Makes perfect sense to me.

I don't believe that China is a bad country, you say that they use their employees but do you now the population of China???
Do you now how much of them is unemployeed???
Let me tell you one thing although China has much larger population than your "democratic" USA their unemployed number is way bellow yours.

The only thing that I care at present is that Microsoft still looses from every xbox sold and that a good thing.
