Title: which IM do you use?

Fellows, my requirements are  :

- run in linux (duh)
- allow me multiple configurations. For instance, allow me to set up that when someone sends me an IM, a pop up window does not appear!, only in the taskbar. It's so anoying that everytime you get an IM the window pops up!! I'm currently using (trying) AOL IM, but I personally don't like it.

-if I minimize the chat window, highlight whenever i get a message. using GAIM or AOL i can't do that, i can only set it up to pop up, and I don't want that.

- keep logs of the conversations I have. THIS IS A MUST!!!

Just like trillian, but unfortunately there's no linux version.

try kopete (http://kopete.kde.org/)

it should be able to what you need it to do.

otherwise you are SOL.
