"Jsgongwon, one of our forum members, reported that his newly bought Xbox 360 keeps crashing while playing Project Gotham Racing 3 in single player mode. He's playing with the default settings, and apparently his Xbox crashes even before the end of the first lap. Crashes on Xbox Live and on startup occur too. He included screenshots of the crashed Xbox 360 and a video of the crash.
A quick look on our forums seems to indicate he's not the only one. Several of our members seems to get crashing 360s. It doesn't seem to be related to a specific game, as we get reports of the Xbox 360 crashing with several games. And it's not all the same Error-number either (E79, E74, E64, real crashes, ...)."

This is exactly why you need to hire full-time beta testers for your next-gen console :)

OMG they suck ass.
-
YYYYYeeeeeeeeesssssssssss .... another home run for M$
Although $ony is full of shit ... the PS3 will probably kick ass ... or you can wait for the Nintendo Revolution, whenever that comes out
-
Or you can go outside and get some air, while it is still free.
-
The air here ain't so good ... smells like pollution ... and burnt tires ... so it's probably healthier to play games than inhale the air :D
-
A console crashing? A computer sure, but not a console. There made for only one purpose, to play games. Computers crash because of conflics, consoles are to single minded to crash easily.
-
Except you forget that Microsoft is too single-minded to construct anything properly.
-
It's like they can't get away from this crashing stuff, ever. :D
What luck.
-
Well, that's gonna make some nice new screenshots for your BSOD collection, WMD. ;)
-
I think they took the BSOD out of XP so it probably won't be in the 360. It's now "illegal error" or some other BS which requires you to restart.

No.

It's not in the 360 anyway.

The original xbox crashed also, it ran on windows 2000
-
Whatever Windows is running on it (my guess it's 2003), they would have to port it from x86-64 to PPC.
Maybe this is the source of trouble?
-
Erm, I've never seen an original Xbox crash, I think Refalm is probably right, the problems were caused by Microsoft trying to port their OS to PPC
-
i crashed my orig xbox. it;s the only M$ thing i actually like.
-
Well, if an OS isn't portable, that means it does too much work. That's one of Microsoft's problems - they have programs doing what the OS should be doing, and OS doing what programs should be doing. See for instance the arguments against Windows technically being an OS at all, for more details on these issues.
I thought it was kinda funny to see the responses to the Xbox 360. At Slashdot, 73% (as of yesterday) said they would never own one - that's terrible market share for a system trying to make money off of game licensing. At some other site, it was really sad how many people were saying "Well, it's Microsoft, of course it is going to crash". And at some list of comments one young kid said "I like Microsoft, but I hate their bugs". Just saying.
-
It's probably not a porting problem. Windows NT ran on PPC a decade ago.
Some say it's a heat problem.
-
I heard Heat Problems and PSU problems. I also heard the MS said the 360 has a 1 in 20 failure rate

The very first time I played an Xbox at my local EB all those years ago, the damn thing crashed on me.....well technically it locked up....but still, it didn't give me a stellar impression of Microsoft's first foray into consoles. And I do recall seeing a screenshot of the Xbox "Green Screen of Death (tm)" (GSOD). Although I believe that was from the Xbox SDK.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Anyone who buys an XBox is a fucking moron. The XBox crashing is just bad karma from God to say "You idiot, you should have waited for the PS3 that has a processor that is roughly 7x more powerful than that of the XBox."
-
I should also mention the obvious, which is that Microsoft fat heads (CEOs/should be stabbed) probably rushed the release and hence grossly decreased code quality just to get it out shortly before Christmas in every nation that celebrates it, because they know IDIOTS will buy it anyway.

And all those morons buying first batch machines. That's only a good idea if you're rich (even then it's kinda silly), so you can buy another one (or more).
