Microsoft as a Company / Re: Bullshit Philanthropism

Uhhh . . . wow.  Hi, guys.

I don't really know how to prove this, but I'm the guy behind fuckmicrosoft.com, etc.  You know, the original inspiration to this.  Hi, Refalm.  Glad to see you finally stopped nagging me on AIM and via e-mail some years ago.  Har -- er, I mean Bedouin -- hi.  Nice to see you here.  (And a tad disturbing, too.  Do you ever move on?)

Oh, and fuck you for beating me on SongPop.  It's the oily touchscreen on my iPhone, goddamn you.  Otherwise I'd beat you ever time.  EVERY.  FUCKING.  TIME.

Now.  Moving on.

Dudes.  Why are you still doing this?  Microsoft is the dying, bleeding horse carcass, and you keep kicking it.  Why?  Shit, at this point Apple is more deserving of our scorn.  And I say this as the owner of an Apple reseller.

Oh, fuck it.  In the end, all these corporations will assrape us and go laugh all the way to the bank.  We're fucked no matter what.

I don't really buy into the whole vaccination conspiracy that picture respresents.

However, what I don't like is that Mellinda and Bill Gates makes 3rd world countries poorer. They want to maximize return investment by using large corporations instead of local companies.

The Lounge / Some interesting tech musings . . .

It wasn't until '97 or so that I really remember accessing websites.  At the time I could only use Lynx for the web, so between a protocol made specifically for text and one with a GUI -- the choice (when available) was obvious.

I didn't get a PPP account until '98 I think.  Before then it was all glorious text.

I found this app for Android:

Couldn't find anything in Google Play but "hit the gopher" games.

Thanks for this post, I'll be exploring Gopherspace.

I've been checking out the Gopherspace lately, reliving fond memories of the early 90s, when it was more informative than the still evolving web.

This guy has a 'glog' with an old school vibe about them.

Yeah, you'll need a browser that supports Gopher.  Luckily, I found an iOS Gopher client.

This will certainly be a damper for the Hotmail on iOS app :))

Looking back, it seems their Surface strategy has failed. There's a lot of word-to-mouth that you can't install desktop programs on Microsoft tablets. That's half true, but Microsoft is to blaim for their confusing product line.

Compare that to Apple. There's an iPad and iPad Mini. That's a simple choice to make.

Or Android even. Although there are a gazillion different tablets running it, there isn't a crippled Android. It doesn't matter how much the manufacturer has raped the tablet by shovelwaring, you still get Android, on which you can install a lot of apps. You can even uninstall the stock Android, and install a custom one.
It's called an open platform, something Microsoft has abandoned, and which was its main selling point.

I love my modded Wii.  I bought it this summer knowing the Wii U would be released but didn't care.  No regrets.
