Title: Some interesting tech musings . . .
Post by: bedouin on 13 January 2013, 21:02
I've been checking out the Gopherspace lately, reliving fond memories of the early 90s, when it was more informative than the still evolving web.

This guy has a 'glog' with an old school vibe about them.

Yeah, you'll need a browser that supports Gopher.  Luckily, I found an iOS Gopher client.

I found this app for Android:

Couldn't find anything in Google Play but "hit the gopher" games.

Thanks for this post, I'll be exploring Gopherspace.

It wasn't until '97 or so that I really remember accessing websites.  At the time I could only use Lynx for the web, so between a protocol made specifically for text and one with a GUI -- the choice (when available) was obvious.

I didn't get a PPP account until '98 I think.  Before then it was all glorious text.
