Title: CD Copy Prevention is futile.
Post by: Calum on 20 June 2002, 18:37

Here's a little article about digital copy protection:
quote:
The Futility of Digital Copy Prevention, by Bruce Schneier
Noted cryptographer says 'All digital copy protection schemes can be broken, and once they are, the breaks will be distributed...law or no law'

and here's something i found out yesterday in the Edinburgh Metro, I have dug up a Register article about it:
quote:
Music disc copyright protection schemes such a Cactus Data Shield 100/200 and KeyAudio can be circumvented using tools as basic as marker pens and electrical tape, crackers have discovered.

The Blue Peter-style hack, which was first unearthed by a reader of chip.de works by covering up the outer ring of a copyright protected audio disc.

So now you mac owners can show Celine Dion who's boss!  ;)
