Title: Business Concept
Post by: Orethrius on 11 July 2004, 16:57
I'm considering doing some work on the side specializing in updating video (and audio!) archives to comply with newer recording standards.  In keeping in step with this idea, I will need to track down several vintage systems for decent prices.

This (http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byform/mailing-lists/amia-l/2000/07/msg00092.html) is the kind of Betamax player I'm looking for, but I don't want to pay through the arse for it.  I'm also looking for 8mm machines, in addition to some decent phonographs and 8-track decks on the audio front.

If anybody has any of these systems for a DECENT (read: SUB-$100) price rather than one aimed at true audiophiles/nutcakes, please post that in here.  Also, if anybody cares to comment on the marketability of this service and possible receptive (read: friendly) locations, I'd be glad to hear about it here.

Thanks guys.

EDIT:  A good laserdisc player couldn't hurt, either.   :D
