Void,

this leter is fantastic!

The man's diction is beutifull. I love things that are well written like this. I feel like I'm reading Kant or Socrates examining a subject, and just like Socrates our friend in this letter veils his attacks with precission  (http://smile.gif)

Quote:

It is necessary to stress that there is no position more anti-competitive than that of the big software producers, which frequently abuse their dominant position, since in innumerable cases they propose as a solution to problems raised by users: "update your software to the new version" (at the user's expense, naturally); furthermore, it is common to find arbitrary cessation of technical help for products, which, in the provider's judgement alone, are "old"; and so, to receive any kind of technical assistance, the user finds himself forced to migrate to new versions (with non-trivial costs, especially as changes in hardware platform are often involved). And as the whole infrastructure is based on proprietary data formats, the user stays "trapped" in the need to continue using products from the same supplier, or to make the huge effort to change to another environment (probably also proprietary).

End Quote.

Hmmm.... I wonder who he might be refering to  :D

This is fantastic! I would love to see it in the origional spanish.

They had links to the original Spanish version. It was a direct reply from a Congressman in Peru to a letter sent by Microsoft containing much FUD on why they should opt for M$ software and not Open Source. The guy definately did his research!

Does this mean Norway is going to get a whole stack of freebies, after all it told M$ they aren't having a contract, and that they are going O/S and using Openoffice and the like.

The Register's department of strange coincidences can't help noticing that yesterday Bill Gates met Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo, and graciously donated around $550,000 worth of money, software, and consulting to be used by Peru for education and e-government.
Geez, just a measley $550K? Especially now that Norway has joined Peru in telling His Gatesness to fuck off.     Such cheapskates, they can't even bribe a politico correctly!

I sure hope Sr. Toledo has enough sense to hold out for a lot more.   :D      :D      :D

God that's a goofy looking bastard. His eyes do seem to say "shit, we lost another one!" I have a feeling that sometime in the future that EULA contract is going to say "by clicking yes to this contract you agree that You give your soul to Bill Gates, and the person he's been working for the whole time, Satan."

You should it's very interesting... Good read, and it gives you ammo when arguing with winzombie's or just to point out to someone who dosent know how m$ really is.
