Microsoft is a cash-hungry cow.

With $50 billion in reserves . . .

I want to send Mr. Gates this complimentary link:

I've been getting this message lately while MSN'ing with dMSN (http://www.dmsn.nl/) (a kick ass freeware MSN client for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows):

quote:
.NET Messenger Service Staff: You are running a version of messenger that requires an immediate security update. Please visit http://messenger.msn.com/Help/Upgrades.aspx (http://messenger.msn.com/Help/Upgrades.aspx) to complete the update.

That would actually be a "downdate".

I got it using Kopete, just got it again as I was typing this.

The ".NET Messenger Staff" showed up on my contacts list so I just blocked them, so far I haven't seen them again, but it's only been five minutes.

last night i was getting that stupid message every two minutes, I had to set my chat session to "Always on top" in KDE so I wouldn't be interupted.

I'm as angry as a person could be. I want TOTAL MICROSFOT ANNIHILATION!
This is the kind of crap I have to listen to:

quote:

Of course there are other instant messaging clients but they will stop to evolve like Netscape, only MSN Messenger will evolve.
You know I love ICQ, but I have to admit that MSN Messenger is ahead of it.

No one deserves to have friends like that. An ASP.NET developer, in fact.

Yeah me too. MSN is really just more primitive. Losers say "MSN is sooo great because it got games!".

And so does Y!IM (http://messenger.yahoo.com/), they've been doing that for over 3 years now.

How about Jabber,

Better protocol, better clients, runs on Linux. Why not set up a Jabberd server or client depending on what you want to do and have access to (I'm currently setting up a private Jabber server, just need to make it run over SSL so it's secure)

The problem is, it hasn't been updated for some time.

There is a slightly newer version of Linux Yahoo messenger out there somewhere that also includes file transfer support.

AOL Instant Messenger for Linux is, however, updated regularly.
