Title: Free Java complier
Post by: bossesjoe on 13 May 2003, 06:28
My school computer science teacher needs some FREE java compilers, that run on win2000. Mostly cause the AP board is switching to java grrr.... I keep telling him to download linux to the machines, cause windows is sooo slow and buggy on them. I posted some article awhile aback about how windows messed up two of the computers we had. Back to subject though, if we can find a free complier, we might be able to write in the cost for compliers and buy scroll mouses for the lab. I don't know jack about whats what in the open source/fsf world so this post might be invalid while I'm typing it. Is there anything out there?

Well,

First of all, he should be teaching programming on Linux anyway.  It's the best platform for development.  Obviously, he's going to have a hard time teaching Java if he doesn't even know where to get the development kit from Sun.

You need to get the Java 2 SDK from http://java.sun.com (http://java.sun.com)
