Well, fuck ... I'm never buying a Sony again.

If you own a Sony and want a quick fix to this bullshit ... install Linux, works for me :)

I own 2 Sony computers and manage 4. Bah, I don't care, I'm gonna switch all of em to Linux anyway. Fuck sony and M$ and any company who kisses Bill's @$$ ... that a whole lot of em

I'm still buying the PS3 though, dammit ... it seems inevitable that I have to somehow support the companies I hate. I can either:

1) Change all PCs to Linux and buy Sony PS3
2) Keep Window$ for games
3) Change all PCs to Linux and use wine

But doesn't buying games support M$ indirectly ? In most cases it does, I know of very few people that use Linux for gaming.

No.

EDIT: Oh, and if Mark Russinovich has trouble with it, it's really hard.  He rules.

I agree he's awesome ... then there is only 1 option -> Linux or BSD

Sony does a lot more shit, like bundles all the software including the Window$ CD into a single heavily encrypted DVD, not that I care anymore, but that's just another sign of bullshit.

Oh, and one of the posts on Mark's site says:

"                  In Australia, this software contravenes the Cybercrime Act, and does it with intent"

... well now you know Sony is overflowing with bullshit !

for those who have not seen:

"So its just $3 to $14 Trillion in potential fines.
Sony has total corporate value (Market Cap) of $36,358,000,000."

think it will be settled, anyone?  no company wants to be the next sony/bmg

"I was going to purchase the new Neil Diamond release, "12 Songs," as a gi..."

yeah, because all the skr1pt k1dd1es download freaking neil diamond.

first post in over a year, btw.  it was fuckmicrosoft.com last time i posted.

What's even more ridiculous than the whole rootkit debacle, is the way it's being managed. Apparently, the software that Sony has released to remove the rootkit is an even bigger security threat than the rootkit itself!!!! Holy fuck, has Sony's upper management been infiltrated by Microsoft?!?!?!?

Why the hell is it that people think Microsoft are the only bad company that has ever existed.

It would have to be a Win98 rootkit, I'm pretty sure.

True, but if Sony's going to make an XP rootkit, who's to say they wouldn't get their money's worth and make a 98 one too?
