I like the X-Box.
-
Snes.
*Kicks the Quirk.*
-
Game Cube, GBA, SNES, Playstation, that is about the order. oh yeah, add the atari at the end of that list. atari was fun for some wierd reason. and the framerate on atari games is fucking amazing!! ;)
-
Dreamcast, bucause it's the only one I currently own.
-
N64. I don't know what all this talk about "more improved" consoles" is. N64 is 3 dimensional.
-
Although I can't afford it, I must say the Panasonic Q is the best.
I liked the Commodore 64 as gaming machine the best.
-
I like the playstation 2, its the one I have. But I'm tempted to pickup a used Game Cube.
-
tty1
-
I like XBox. Right now I'm working on modding and then installing the XBox Media Player. (http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/xbplayer)

Does using a PC to emulate consoles(old and new-ish) count as a console choice? ;)
-
PS2.
I have an Xbox that has "fallen off a truck" if you get what I mean.
-
My fav right now is the Game Cube.
One reason:
Zelda: The Wind Waker
This is teh best game ever.
-
In order:
GBA SP, N64, (Genesis, NES, PS1, Atari (these are a tie)), GameCube
GameCube sucks because it sold RARE to micro$hit and which made all the good Nintendo games. Also, i greatly prefer my comp to GCN because i can get better graphics, and better (and more) game titles.
i also think that xbox was the worst theing ever made.
-
rare sold rare to microsoft. nintendo did not own rare. okay, it might have held like %49 percent of the company stock, but rare still had %51, they had the final choice. maybe nintendo sold off because they wanted nothing to do with ms?

basically, this is what u were suppose to assume. i know that nintendo doesnt OWN rare, but sometimes im bad at phasing myself...bleh

you cant get a better game than Windwaker on PC or otherise, so ou game cube cube haters shove it!
-
Metroid prime is also good.

Consoles are over rated

Have you ever wondered why EA started producing so many James Bond Games? :D Yeah, MS got the Perfect Dark franchise (unfortunately) , but they don't have the people to back it up.
Systems I've owned:
Game Boy
NES
SNES (unfortunately no Satellaview, I don't live in japan)
Virtual Boy (would have rocked if supported more)
N64 (thought I forgot something)
Game Boy Advance
Gamecube
PS
PS2
Xbox
And last time I checked, the newer James Bond games still have the old maps from goldeneye. That's gonna be the shit if they make it net playable on either GC or PS2.

Deathmatch on Goldeneye Surface.... mmmmmm.....
-
Emulation. Very practical, low-cost and available on most platforms.
SNES and NES. Because it's all I ever had. Plus, I find old games much more fun than all the rubbish out there (personal opinion).
And last:
Windows. Because that's all it's good for. ;)
-
Dude, you can emulate SNES in Linux... and probably NES too, although I haven't tried that yet.
-
Theres a Playstation emulator (ePSXe) too.
-
Yes, you can emulate NES in Linux. Tuxnes, fceu, fwnes, ines, darcnes and others. And I do use ZSNES in Linux. Too bad it's limited to the x86 architecture...
As for the Playstation, I would like to try it, but I haven't got any games or roms for it.
Edit: By the way, I meant to say that a Wintel was worth little more than a game comsole.

Hmm, favorite console of all time? Probably the Sega Master System.
I just sold my PSX and Dreamcast and bought a Gamecube. The only reason I purchased it is because Soul Calibur II should be dropping soon, and the GC version looks nicer than all others (plus the GC is only $149). The GC version of Mario Kart should be decent too.
All and all, I give Nintendo props for actually implementing a copy protection scheme that nobody's cracked yet. Not saying I don't warez things to all hell, but still, at least they came up with something no one broke . . .
Xbox is evil. I don't see why any self-righteous individual would purchase one knowing they're looking to monopolize yet another industry. The "we only run Linux" on it excuses are getting weak, too.
I always wanted to check out an Atari Jaguar; that might be next on my Ebay list. Maybe I'll do that after I get an Afterburner kit for my GBA.

" Also, i greatly prefer my comp to GCN because i can get better graphics, and better (and more) game titles."
Why do you even play video games?
Comments like that lead me to believe you'd be happy sitting comatose in front of your computer monitor watching a tech demo.
I own all current gen. consoles: PS2, Gamecube, Xbox , Dreamcast and GBA SP. They all have their strengths and weakneses.
As far as console of choice? I couldn't say really this month I'm playing the Gamecube like crazy with games like Ikaruga, Def Jam Vendetta and Resident Evil Zero. Last month I was playing Shenmue 2 on xbox non-stop.
-
I kinda like the Genesis and SNES (I'm now a proud owner of both! :D ).
-
i've played many consoles, but the one i've liked most would probably be the dreamcast.
i'm not a fan of pc/mac/linux gaming. it's too annoying, plus 98% of the titles are mediocre, imo.
-
N64 / GCN(Pana Q)
Im still puzzled by how the N64 was not accepted by so many people.....as far as Im concerned the best games Ive ever played were on that system. Here are three N64 games that I believe revolutionized gaming:
- Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (arguably the best game ever created.)
- Super Mario 64 (you may not like Mario himself but f#%k was that a revolutionary game or what!? It was made in 1995 for f#%ks sake!)
- GoldenEye (another revolutionary game)
I would say GCN is my favourite console but these three games above always outweigh it....and as always..its the games that make a console good.
GCN does have some killer games though....Wind Waker and Metroid Prime would have to be two of the best games Ive ever played....they are just as influential as the three games above.
-
I really like the GameCube. It has a processor a bunch like the G4 and mine performs just awesome. I'd have to say that's the best console without question.
-
The N64 failed because of lack of 3rd patry support. All those games you mentioned were 1st or 2nd party developers.
-
Game Cube the PS2.
Oh and I'd like an X-box to run Linux on, just to see
-
Heh. Imagine using KDE with their huge controllers!
-
Here's my order:
Gamecube
Linux (there are a LOT of *great* games for Linux)
PS2
SNES/NES (nostalgia)
Xbox (Halo and UT)
My favorite games currently:
Zelda: Wind Waker (GCN)(amazing game)
Metroid Prime (GCN)(graphically BEAUTIFUL)
Cube(Linux) (VERY fast and it's open source too)
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (Linux)(Great team play)
Tribes 2 Aerial Assault (PS2/online) (addictive)
UT2k3 (Xbox) (because i dont have the linux version)
Halo (Xbox) (team coop play is very fun)
All-time favorites (in order)
Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)(THE BEST)
Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (N64/GCN)
Metroid 2 (SNES/GB)
Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
Goldeneye (hard to play now, its so slow!!!)
Final Fantasy 7
I'm a Nintendo person. And don't tell me we have kiddy games because most non-exclusive titles on Xbox or PS2 are on GCN.
Edit: changed all GCX's to GCN's because I forgot what the abbrev. was (http://smile.gif)

I guess we could consider the Wintel a game console. That's all it's good for.
-
i would have to say the ps2 imo gives you a better view u could say of a console with the linux kit for it

Of course it's a game consoler. Ever heared of the X-Box?
-
Yes, I know that the Xbox runs a modified version of Windoze. That's why you get GSODs. I have never tried the Xbox, though, and probably never will.
-
Laukev7: "Yes, I know that the Xbox runs a modified version of Windoze. That's why you get GSODs."
GSODs... is that "Green Screen Of Death"?
Tux: "tty1"
:D :D
As for myself, I'm not a huge fan of consoles... All I remember is this pretty old one that I played "Bonk's Revenge" on when I was little. That, in my mind, makes it the best console ever.
I can't put these pictures here because of some weird characters in the url

I am definitely a satisfied GCN owner.
I like the portability of the system, as well as the connectivity with the GBA (I'm not talking about the cable, either. I mean the GBA Player). The controller is also a winner with me. IMO it definitely beats the standard Xbox and PS2 pads in terms of button layout and comfort, althought I admit that the "s" pads for the Xbox aren't so bad.
I have almost 20 games for the system, which is about all I have had time to play, and every single one has been great. I realize that a number of them are available for the PS2 and/or the Xbox as well, but then again, the majority of them aren't. A good example is how, last Christmas, Splinter Cell and Metroid Prime were the two hottest console games. Now, GCN owners can play both, while Xbox owners still only have Spliter Cell.
Now that I've made myself sound like a complete fanboy, I will say that if I had a lot more time (money isn't so much the issue...well, it is, but no to the extent time is!) I would buy and play all three systems. However, given the current restrictions on my resources and the style of games that I prefer to play, the GameCube has definitely proven to be a satisfactory purchase for me.
-
gamecube, becuase i like pso and play it regurly with some friends
-
XBOX is fun, it hasnt even used its full graphical potential yet, and M$ didnt make the XBOX it says they did, but really people overseas put it together.
