Not surprising since that's the norm for tablets.  Linux will never make it onto the iPad, which is fine until iOS is no longer officially supported on your device.
Maybe Apple will then release a toolkit to get Linux running on unsupported devices. You never know, afterall, Apple did invent the idea that people have their own devices they can program by themselves. Wait...

$65 computers handheld and outputting to your TV or whatever we'll call that in the future is right within our reach, and the way to do it is precisely using the cloud and web-based apps.

Screw apps designed for your specific OS or device, it will be all about apps designed to web- and other standards, on devices optimized to display the web.

It's google (for docs) you need to press for the Word 5 compatibility.

$75 computer (ok im out by $10) running Android.

It seems clear that you won't get this stuff from Apple, unfortunately, or when you do your device will be locked-down.

Microsoft Software / Winbloze softwares

As someone who uses Windows for a long time, I have to say that I feel that they should only work on the operating system only and not to produce other products like office or the likes. Their security softwares fails... I'd rather take on Comodo and put it on maximum setting while putting on bufferzone pro plus threatfire to make it much more secure as I can actually have more control and less vulnerabilities. I think microsoft should focus on providing direct downloads to alternative security companies instead of their own. That's all I have to say. I sort of hate their products though I love Windows itself. I also use Linux in order to maintain Windows in emergency circumstances which I do not get at all.

Short note, not really supporting norton crap either.

I'm still using Windows to this very day questioning how can Comodo won't start up on reboot (this problem is just 1 week recent after playing with Winbloze maintenance center and I shouldn't done that) and the next day Microsoft Update disabled Comodo Cleaning Essential reboot scan the next day. Man, their patches are unneeded for the most part. On a bright side, still got threatfire here.

The Wikipedia app shouldn't be necessary.  Wikipedia just doesn't offer a mobile version of their website that could function similarly.  When reading an article on the normal page is straining I usually open the Wikipedia app.

Most of these apps are fucking useless that just access the website (see: all the wikipedia apps you see / dictionaries).

There's also backing up the standard way without any software.

Microsoft Software / Re: MS Classifies Keygens as Malware

Not surprised. This is a typical "Microsoft trying to crack down on piracy to earn more money even though they have billions of dollars" situation to attempt to scare people from it.

(Not that I advocate software piracy.)
