Title: Itunes capable linux app

Is there an itunes equivelant? I've been googling for an hour now, and there are a handfull that laim to be, Ubuntu says nothing about it...I could check their forums for it....Oh well I wanted to ask here any way.

The goal is to be able to transfer tunes to my wifes mobile phone and it has to be itunes or similar...it's the Motorola Razor V3i...

any help will be greatly appreciated by British Chick...I personally don't care, my phone doesn't store itunes :(

Does the phone report itself to be like an iPod or something?

amaroK and late versions of rhythmbox can transfer to iPods, and then there's gtkpod.

You sure you can't just drag songs into a folder?

yeah, thephone reports as an ipod. It is some kinda joint thing with apple and motorola. If in Windows, I just use itunes and the phone comes up. But I need to mount it in linux I think, after I USB it in...not sure how to do that yet...I've installed gtkpod and apparently Banshee is supposed to be able to do it if I have gtkpod installed...but I haven't got the wifes phone here to try it...The Ubuntu forums were full of bad things not working...I mst continu the journey.

why don't they just use the USB storage driver like any half decent portable storage device? it is pathetic that so many companies have closed proprietary interfaces that people have to try and reverse engineer with third party software to get working.

As I reported on Void's forums, my Motorola v360 did not require any interface at all.  Just drag and drop, it would probably even work in Windows.

That's why I stick with cheap players and avoid ipods - or fancy phones you actually  have to pay for not just the service. Cheap USB players work by default in any distro I've tried recently. But I am looking for a player that supports ogg and mp3 at the same time - I mean ogg VORBIS.

Actually, I paid nothing for the phone...It's a contract upgrade from my old Motorola V620. They didn't even take the old phone back to recycle. I also got 750 minutes, 1000 texts and something else with internet...
