does anyone know were i could get a good computer thats hardware is supported under linux for around 300-400$$ i looked at ebay and didnt have much luck and advice would be appreciated

I would say custom build, will end up being (IMO) cheaper than buying an entire computer from a distributor/business. Of course this is assuming you know somethinga about setting up a computer from scratch.

if it runs Linux im happy.

as to the origional question, i think also that building it yourself would be cheaper, and you could probably do a lot better that way.
