Once again, un-imaginative designers and .NOT developers rip a Apple product of. Not only that you must be using Winblows on IE for no apparent reason. Utter crap.........
ButholeMusic (http://www.buymusic.com/)

Com-pe-ti-tion, whats that? Says Monkey Boy.
They didn't copy Apple. Apple allows you to download from more than one browser.
I hate Cumguzlersoft, but I suppose you gathered that from the colourful nickname.
And it begins.....Webpage (http://forum.microsuck.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000535)

In order to take full advantage of BuyMusic.com's offerings you must be on a Windows Operating System using Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher.
What a bunch of dumbasses. I hope they get hanged from a tree, shot, then dragged out into the street and hit by a buick.

Ya gotta use mac fer iTunes. Why aren't they allowed to make you use IE.

Don't lie. You need ActiveX to install DRM licenses for your downloaded music. To prevent piracy, they're using WMA with WMP9.
Since you can only run DRMed music in WMP9 in Windows, it really _doesn't_matter_.

Apple expects to be able to have windows machines use the iTunes stores by the end of the year.

what's the big deal? Apple dropped the ball, they don't support Windows or Linux users at all. they basically cut themselves out of 90% of the market. buymusic.com is just filling in the market for the remaining 90% of computer users.

Its not what their doing, its how they are doing it. They copy apples comercials verbatim.
Not only that their service is inferior.
I am personaly confident Apples iTunes for PC will be a big hit
-
It says you have to be on a windows os. Can you linux guys get on there ?
-
I was watching TV and it seemse the media isn't liking buymusic.com iTunes will probably be the best

Ermmmm, yes the do / will. iTunes for PC is due the end of this year. It would be OK is the "filling in" for the 90% actually worked and was a quality service, with the customer in mind. Not a cheap rip-off knocked up with M$.NOT.

The biggest part of it is the requirement of WM9...Active wreX...ugh! So I guess it has to be XP / IE / WM9, bha.
I wouldn't mind if they at least tried to come up with something of their own, design wise. Or even functionality or flow wise. I hate this lack of imagination on BuyMusic's part.

you might get WM9P to work in WINE or VMWARE. or someone could just write a plugin for xine, or xmms.
or they could just have support for the rapidly growing *nix commmunity.

Hopefully non apple support for their music store doesn't turn out like quicktime...
-
someone could just write a letter addressing the growth of the open-source community, and how users of open-source would like to be legal  ( dumb RIAA) about swapping music files.
