Title: DHCP problems
Post by: SAJChurchey on 31 December 2002, 22:14
My friends want to play Halo on the net.  And they come to the amateur computer networker down the hall.

Does XBox have issues w/ DHCP LANs?  I figured it's either not receiving IP Addresses or not getting through the firewall on campus.  In any case I wanted to route the traffic through my Linux box to transport the packets to the internet. Will that work?

How nice. X-Box troubles on Fuckmicrosoft.com   .

Yes, it can work, but you'll need a cross-over cable and appropriate software installed on loonix.

Yeah, it will probably be running through a hub. They have the habit of hooking four of those things together to play multiplayer together. It's pretty pathetic.  They all bought Xboxes for this one game, and it's the only game that's remotely any good for that M$ piece of crap.  I told them I'd use it as long as it wasn't hooked up ot the NET but now I guess I'm just running the router :-D

Lets be honest.  Half the threads here are started by people having "difficulties" with their microsoft hardware/software.

My advice:

Throw the XBoxes out the window and replace them with shiny new tuxtops from www.tuxtops.com (http://www.tuxtops.com)
