THE MAJORITY of Microsoft workers snub their own outfit's search engine and use Google, a web metrics company claims.

According to Techweb, Andrew Hitchcock posted Google Analytics statistics on visitors to his Web site. He said that of the users originating from Microsoft's domain who reached Hitchcock's site via a search engine, 80 percent came through Google. Only 20 percent used a Microsoft search engine.

A more formal bean counter, VisitorVille Intelligence, has come up with similar figures. According to it, 66.3 percent of Volish servitors use Google for searches. Only 19.6 percent use MSN; 10.2 percent went to Yahoo to search.

While the Voles may be disinterested in their own browsers Google and Yahoo workers are a bit more loyal. All Google users and 64 percent of Yahoo staff use their company search engines.

One must wonder if Microsoft's search technology is all that it is cracked up to be, if the staff at the Volehill will not touch it. More here (http://www.techweb.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=189500876&cid=RSSfeed_TechWeb).
