I already got a wireless keyboard from Logitec. It send radio signals to a reciever. Unless you want to type stuff in your backyard, with your computer being in your room, I don't see why I'd choose a Bluetooth keyboard over a radio-transmitting keyboard.

Apart from the design, its a peice of shit, because it bluetooth you cannot even boot into the BIOS with one of those, you have to keep your old keyboard around incase you need to get access.

What's so special about "bluetooth" anyway, people come in to work (BestBuy) all the time asking for them specifically. Is it just because its microsoft's newest renovation?

Its about as useful as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to keyboards and mice, still with wireless.  Then again why have bluetooth and wireless, it seems MS wanted to look different and be the first with that type of product.

The only useful implementation i have seen come out of bluetooth is a HP printer even then i have to wonder if its THAT useful due to it range.  Then compare it to a wireless printer (if they made one).

Bluetooth is a project started almost 10 years ago by swedish telephone maker Ericsson. At first no one took notice but when Microsoft got interested many people jumped on the band wagon. Now we are here, 10 years later, and what have we got? Keyboards you can use while not in the same room as the computer (Hey mom, the computer is haunted! It writes funny stuff on the screen all by itself!), mice that you can use the same way as the keyboard. That is totally needless, if you ask me!

Soon, maybe we can use the telephone as an extra remote control (Hey honey, I can

Those devices are actually a hot item for Windows administrators who have servers at unattended remote locations. When their server hard freezes (and it surely will sooner or later) they can power cycle it through their phone.

they should just get a phone with 'ctrl', 'alt' and 'delete' on it. that way they just type in the ip of the machine they need to reboot and then hold down ctrl and alt while... you get the idea.

Another solution would be for them to use *nix servers. of course then they wouldn't get to use their fancy phone/remote since they wouldn't get so many (any?) hard freezes.

i agree, but i think that the main attraction for people is that your fridge and your hoover will be able to talk to each other behind your back. your washing machine will be able to order a repair guy out to fix itself when it breaks down (of course it'll be able to access your diary and your bank account to find out if you can afford the callout and when to fit it in...)
i think microsoft likes the idea because your toaster will be able to phone home and dob you in for using 'unauthorised' toasting software on it et c...

Nope (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=bluetooth+keyboard). If it's not on eBay, it does't exist (yet).

Heh Heh, if you own a wireless keyboard....keep the old "corded" one as a backup...you'll need it sooner or later.  :D

I still don't get why you would choose bluetooth over radio. I cannot see any practical advantage for a bluetooth keyboard. Once you get out of the range of a radio keyboard you can't read the screen anyway. It sounds like a gimmicky idea to me and it will be bought be the kinda people that buy a P4 3Ghz for their 5 year old kid to play educational DOS games on...

ummm, if the signal and range is better, that is a very good thing. wireless you say. i had to rearrange my moniters and cases's to get rid of some of the electromagnitic problems. did i mention our house has alluminium siding?/*radio reception bites ass, i can wak around the room and either boost the signal, or kill it off with my body, or in somecases my hand*/
