So now to me it s beyond doubt that M$ must and should be broken up by the gov. They must be brought to task when potentially peoples lives are in danger.... this will only get worse:

The article doesn't say the trains were using Windows.

The crashes were caused by a Windows virus (no pun intended).

Zardoz is absolutely right...

"The virus infected the computer system at CSX Corp.'s Jacksonville, Fla., headquarters, shutting down signaling, dispatching, and other systems at about 1:15 a.m. EDT, CSX spokesman Adam Hollingsworth said"

Just as well it wasn't 13:00 p.m.  or there would have been real problems!

Microsoft SHOULD NOT be able to hide behind EULA,s or anything else. They built it, they market it, they charge for it ergo THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT!

The question is when are those at the top of the tree going to listen to those below who have been screaming it's insecure, rubbish for so long.

Unfortunately I fear, it will actually take some trains to crash, a power station to implode, or some other equally horrific event that results in the deaths of a lot of innocent people, before the powers that be remove their heads from their collective backsides and SORT THIS PROBLEM OUT.

Let's face it $MS scares them to death.

When (not if) this happens The rest of us will don our "Told you so T-Shirts" and reflect on the fact that sometimes being right is not easy, and... "If only they had listened those innocents would be at home having a nice cup of tea"

Unfortunately we live in a world where money and power over rule common sense and doing what is right and good for the general benefit of all.

The disaster will eventually happen, but there is still time to prevent it, is it likely that this will be sorted before it's too late. In a word NO. Microsoft are too greedy and don't care, and governments are too scared to kick their corporate arse and put them firmly in their place, ensuring that they are accountable for all failings of their products.
