I can't find any place to get the latest java SE (right now it's update 9) ... anyone know where I can download it ?
I've tried the main site:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
it just times out when I click download. "The connection has timed out
The server at javashoplm.sun.com is taking too long to respond."
Anywhere else I can get it ? Or better yet, I'm sick of this shit, anywhere I can get a replacement for java that'll be compatible with the java you get from sun ?

Depends, what do you want Java for?

Well to run applets in a browser mostly. So it has to have a firefox plugin.

What do you need JSK for to run applets in a browser?

I don't need the development kit, just java. Without a java browser plugin, no java applet would work. I need a java applet for school work.

Hey can anyone download java from that site ? Maybe it's my new router ... it has a hardware firewall with wierd settings ... if you can download it then it must be the router.
Try downloading JRE 5.0 Update 9 from here:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Ok, nevermind I found a place:
http://download.java.net/jdk6/binaries/
It seems the java source is available under the Java Research License ... a bit more open-source oriented, but for research purposes only.
