Title: Apple's 30th
Post by: sjor on 3 April 2006, 20:32
To be honest, I was expecting something new for Apple's 30th, like a new iPod or something. But it looks like they havnt done anything. In fact, they seemed to have completely ignored it. Although, when Apple released the TAM it was a year after their 20th, so there still might be something to come.

For the sake of fun, here's my idea for a new TAM (Thirtieth Anniversary Macintosh): A 30" Black iMac case, with a 3.0Ghz G5 in it (for the sake of Steve's original promise), for $3000.  Not $2999, mind you, but exactly $3k, because it sounds cooler.

I'm expecting the Intel iBook sooner than anything, though.

A quad G5 at 3GHz with 300GB hd and 3 Gb ram for $3,000 would be much nicer.

It is probably possible to clock a G5 at 3Gig. There are 2.7Gig versions out now. The fsb is 1.25GHz. Slow the bus down a little for the sake of heat and it might work. But the performance would suffer. The fsb is where quad G5's get their performance from.
