Ok, so I got GNOME running seemless with OSX and now getting KDE to install also.
http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/kde3-rangerrick-koffice.html (http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/kde3-rangerrick-koffice.html)
Now, explain why I need YDL :D . I think I'm dumping it. I can now use all those apps. right in OSX without ever even leaving the Aqua environment.
Booting into Darwin directly, a quick call to startx and I'm off into, GNOME or KDE if I feel like it.
ahhh... i love UNIX!
-
Err... I take it back. KDE is dog slow! (less you run in pure Darwin mode, even then it's no where close to YDL)
-
It's 'seamless' not 'seemless' Don't you use Omniweb? ;)
I think the bigger question is, however, "Why use Linux, when you have OS X?"*
I've been thinking about getting that 'running linux under os x' thing, though... is that what you're talking about?
*just playin' my Linux peeps, you know I luv ya.

That's a good question, the answer I frequently come up with is: "because you can"
It's no replacement for OS X which is light years ahed in usability. But hey, that's just me. Linux is shitloads better than windoze will ever be.

dude, linux is just a kernel, it depends on what you stick on top of it. now my gnome2 config, is the nicest ui i haved ever used. even though there are some menu editing bumps, its awsome

Oh I know. I'm reffering to Linux's GUI's in my post not Linux itself. I think Linux us awsome, but for a desktop GUI it dosn't hold a candle to OSX.
I ain't trying to start a flame war, I'm just speaking from personal experience.
EDIT: BTW, I have Gnome and KDE installed, and I use them every once in a while. But I could never concive of actually replaceing Aqua with them.

That's no good Harry. No one will respond to such blatant troll attempts.
Look, here is some advice, Good flame-bait has to at least APEAR factual and like you mean it. Then people will be offended.
Right now you sound like a silly child.
Better luck next time!

Heheh.. I would, but, his comment was totaly absurd and useless. Im sick of unseless trolls. So I figured Id make a bit of an example.
I mean, it's not like his post was seriously contributing to anything on the thread, so I "enhanced it". Now it provides an educational comment on how to be "contraversial" get it :D
Anyway, I just used my moderator discression on this one. Won't be common practice.

I'm for freedom of speech... deleting or changing posts really suck!
