Title: 'I Love Windows' Forum
Post by: Calum on 17 April 2002, 21:03
f00bar posted a thing elsewhere in miscellaneous about whether there were any windows forums out there, presumably so people can go there and mouth off, since all the denizens of those sites have been coming here with their idiocy recently.

Well i don't know if i'll be doing that, but since he asked, and for other people's info too, here are a few that i found:

The Windows BBS (http://www.windowsbbs.com/)
personally, i think this should be the windows B$.
You know all those "help, i can't use windows xp, but i am too much of a lamer to get linux" posters? they should go here instead. be sure to read the strict forum rules (http://www.windowsbbs.com/rules.php) before posting.

The EasyWindows Forum (http://www.easywindows.com/wwwboard.html)
This one reads more like a bunch of people who have found a lot of niggly problems with windows but have no idea what to do about them. A community of people huddling deeper into the windowy murk, trying to keep each other warm against the bitter cold of Microsoft.

The BlackCode.com Windows Forum (http://www.blackcode.com/forums/list.php?f=5)
They also have a linux forum, so the site itself doesn't seem prejudiced, I bet you get some raving  windoids posting there though! also there is a Spanish forum here if anybody's interested!

The M$N Communities 'I Love Windows XP' forum (http://communities.msn.com/LoveWindowsXP/messageboard.msnw).
This speaks for itself.
This is an actual Microsoft site, just so's you know before you go clicking on it...

And lastly,
The Sysopt.com forum (http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/000767.html) read this fantastic definition of windows 95!

Any other good ones, anybody?

the windows BBS needs you to use an e-mail provided by your ISP. And i am too lazy to configure my e-mail with my ISP.

I posted some things in the "we love XP" forum.
I have to have a shower now, i feel so dirty.

the easy windows forum was just stupid.

So then, if I'm correct, WindowsBBS (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=www.windowsbbs.com) and The EasyWindows Forum (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=server17.hypermart.net) use Linux, yay!

TaskBar location
The row of icons that were at bottom of screen which showed programs being executed (I think call the taskbar), are suddenly showing up as a vertical line on the left side of screen.  Anyone know how I can change them back to the bottom?
Thanks

Hi coboller
Sure.........just put your cursor on any blank part of it.......hold down your left mouse button.....and drag it back to the bottom of your screen.

Thanks for your reply, Daisy.
I finally got the task bar back to where it has always been on this machine.  But it was not a one step operation.  Sometimes when I click and drag, nothing happened.  I eventually got it across the top, then down the right side, and finally across the bottom.
Many thanks for your reply.....Ed

what a cack!!!!!
the same goes for the fact that the windows B$ is hosted on apache servers!

i laughed so hard i broke all my furniture!

Hi Folk's!
I've donned my asbestos suit, and will attempt another post here.
I'm running Opera601 paid ver, and using text only mode, except when I need to go pee, and get coffee.
The "Abyss" site intrigued me so I clicked the link.
I was deluged with popups! I leave em enabled in opera so I don't miss all the drivel.
The main page is okay, but I had to switch to user mode in order to view the yellow text that was on a white background for me.
After throwing off the trash, the site is still intriguing.
Have you heard of the W3 org?
Give us po folk a break!
John...

the abyss is under major reconstruction. I am not very good with the frames. Somehow i accidentally made the links popup in a new window.

GREAT SITE!
I love cheese myself! Eat LOT'S.
Gitcherself a nice wheel of aged wisconsin "blu" cheese, and spread it on some hard bisquits, or crackers for a real treat. Smelly(I like the smell), but GOOD.
I also like extra hard aged cheddar, at room temp.
Haven't seen cheeze whiz for a while, only thing similar I can get is Velveeta. Melts great, and goes well with macaroni, or as a grilled cheese sandwich.

I put your site in my opera 'favorites' folder for easy access, and will hand out the URL, if it's okay with you.
Peace and Prosperity!

I thought I'd sign up to give you some membership, but then I discovered that they wanted me to apply for a MS Passport! I didn't even look to see what the requirements were.

I cleared my browser history so no one can ever link me with being near such a sign up page.

reasons for baning me:

quote:

1. You wasn't helping anybody, only saying "get Linux" nothing else

2. you listed your email address as [email protected]

Good luck elsewhere!

I only told one person to get Linux. The rest: I implied that linux is infinatly better.
