Title: what the F****
Post by: 1000schnauzers on 9 December 2002, 01:10
Can anyone explain to me why it is that whenever I start downloading a large file, like the ISO's I'm doing now, that the file trxfer rate does nothing but fucking DROP?  I've been watching these things, and they started out nice and fast, but their speed has halved b4 they're 15% done....this happens all the goddamn time....Mp3's too, on file share sites...why don't they just stay at the speed they start at, why do they have to cocktease?              [/rant]

At the start of the download it has not recieved enough data to work out the transfer rate properly. The accuracy gets better as it goes along.
It is only doing

Data Recieved / Time elapsed.

That drives me insane too. I can load a webpage full of huge images in like two seconds but it takes forever just to download an mp3. Took me like 10 hours to download ydl too when it started out saying it would finish in 45 minutes. Drives me insane!!!!
