Title: Oddest Keyboard Ever
Post by: Fett101 on 6 February 2003, 23:45
Here (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=D267-1000) is the oddest looking (and most expensive) keyboard I have ever seen. Wish I could give it a spin, but I don't quite have the $900 to spare..

Edit: Here's the official site (http://www.datahand.com/flashsite/home.html) and a bettter (but large)picture (http://www.datahand.com/images/proiitest.jpg)

You are right, that thing does look weird.  Rather than something new it looks like an acient prototype of what a keyboard should look like.  The keys looks to small and to close together to really work well also.  I think it looks more like a gaming device rather than a keyboard.  I must say I'd love to try it, although it seems typing would be a pain in the ass.

It looks hard to learn...a lot of getting used to. How are you supposed to use the mouse if both your hands are preoccupied (Q3, etc).

if you could learn how to use it properly i bet you could type extremely fast on it, a lot faster than normal keyboards because they're modelled after typewriters which were made specifically to slow down your typing.

would kick ass for gaming. All those keys a fingertip away.

On the subject of keyboard layouts, I just converted mine to DVORAK using a remapper and a flathead screwdriver. My WPM is currently about 10, but thats to be expected. Otherwise I feels like a much better layout.

Oh, and also, a big page of alternative keyboards (http://tim.griffins.ca/gallery/keyboard/all). Probably not for dial-up.

this is my favourite, but i like the ones where it's in a few bits and you can swivel them all individually.

good efforts on those ones that are totally incomprehensible too!

Calum, that looks more like something from Star Trek than a keyboard. Are you sure it

My god it's AWFUL!!!  Apparently, though, the ABCDEF layout is quite good!!!

Oh, yeah, what the hell is the deal between Faust and X11?  Anyone would think they're married with stupid sig pictures like that...

Stick to bitching about what we're supposed to bitch about.  Microsoft.
