I have decieded beceause "Gregory Suvualian" of www.unixsucks.com (http://www.unixsucks.com) made a poor manipulation of Unix, we should attack not Windows, but instead him!

Yes we are going to gimp him....

Just post your edits of him here.

I found a pic of him on his website www.artisticcheese.com (http://www.artisticcheese.com)

I wouldn't want to spend two minutes editing this guy's photo. It's like giving him more credit than he deserves (if he deserves any credit at all). So, why bother?   (http://smile.gif)

Nah, I don't think it'll piss him off. On the contrary, I believe he'll start enjoying the publicity or start spreading the word on how *NIX users resort to pure insult just to fend Windows users off. Just my opinion.    (http://smile.gif)

Anyway, I'd love to see some funny edits from people who will bother. So, bring it on.   :D

i would like to see how everyone (if anyone) edits his photo. We could "battle" with it, you know, pass what we edit back and forth until he is really fooked up. Though, i am not familiar with gimp, i use (hold your breath) photoshop. yes, i havent found the joy of gimp yet, but i love phototshop. its easy to use, blah blah blah. anyways, later today i am going to play with the photo.

I must have got on his nerves or something.
Here is his PM in which i never send a reply.

Copy and paste for you.
BTW to all the moderators, feel free to check and see if am BSing.

I don't like GIMP either. I'll take Photoshop and PaintShop Pro over GIMP anyday.

I just looked at your profile and I noticed that your OS of coice is OSX. Let me ask you...why in the hell would you want to use GIMP when OSX has much better alternatives available?

Of course there are alternatives to GIMP, but are you forgetting their cost, compared to GIMP which is really "free"? Why not install X Windows in OS X and benefit from Open Source software?

Well, he already has Photoshop(so obviously he has already purchased it or pirated it) so why go to something different? If he already paid several hundred $$$ for Photoshop wouldn't it be stupid to ditch it for something that is free and isn't as functional as Photoshop?

I say photoshop is better then gimp, but certainly not Paintshop Pro, which doesnt even have a scripting language... WTF is with that... I dont even think photoshop does, so is anyone going to post anything, the mac people have the stuff. And so does anyone with a decent Linux version

He could give GIMP a try and not necessarily ditch Photoshop, which I agree is better than GIMP for the time being.

in a word. no. gimp is actually better than photoshop, so go and blow your dog. Also, you can get stuffed because you put no effort into justifying your ludicrous claim that gimp isn't as functional as photoshop, so i will put a similar amount into defending gimp, because a truly good program does not need defending.

however by using free software, he would be losing nothing and gaining a lot. tell me why he SHOULDN'T use gimp?

dumbass.

also, may i draw a parallel between your post and some very similar sentiments?:

"i live in a world where 3/4 of the population are dying of thirst, starvation, disease and war, but i am one of the lucky few, who belongs to one of the countries who are responsible for perpetuating this situation in order that me and my countrymen may become fat and complacent at the expense of others so why go to something different?"

WTF?????  I have used Photoshop before and I can't understand this bullshit about it being better than The Gimp. Come on! The only real argument I have ever seen is that Gimp doesn't separate to CMYK (or something) And only a fucking publisher or a Kinkos would give a fuck!!!
For anybody else, The Gimp is the shit!!! Besides, who is the fucking moron that pays $600 to screw around with pics at home???
I know Zombie didn't pay shit, cuz he's all talk, and doesn't put his money where his mouth is!!!

If i find gimp to be a better alternative to photoshop, i would switch. It is just hard to use gimp when i know photoshop inside and out.

i do not use it to screw around with photos at home. i use it for design. i am a graphic designer. i do flyers, posters, web graphics, magazine advertisments, plus the work for my full time job doing architectural presentations (flash, photoshop), touching up my photoreal & stylized renderings (using viz4 & photoshop), and constant work to finish this brochure  :(  , where i do need the color seperations & cmyk. and photoshop is mearly a tool i use. if i found a a better tool, of course it would make sense to use it.
if the gimp can handle color like photoshop, and supports layers, transparency, masking, and time saving things like adjustment layers & alpha channels, i could consider using it.  (http://smile.gif)
before i can really say anything about gimp, i probably should use it a little more thoroughly.

Mother fucker, I pay for every bit of software that I install on my system(other than free stuff like Winamp, WMP 9, etc.). There is only one piece of software on my system that isn't legit, but I do own a legit copy of the same software that I won't use because it has an invasion of privacy feature in it that the non-legit copy doesn't have. I'm not a lowlife cheap bastard(hence why I don't have to turn to Open Source because it is free ;P).

So product activation is "BS"? Don't MS have the right to stop their software from being 'stolen' by "lowlife cheap bastards"?

Maybe [email protected] would be interested to know that even one of their fanboys is so disgusted with their 'anti-piracy' measures he breaks the law in order to circumvent them.

I thought MS was heading in Controlling All pirated software. Arent you big on the whole TCPA thing ??

Piracy is piracy no matter how you cut it.
Thats why Open Source lets you Modify the code with out braking the Law. I dont see Companies like Red Hat or Mandrake, Open Office and so on, being on the street corner asking for money.
They dont make M$ money but I think the coders of such companies are well off money wise, wouldnt you agree?

If you actually take your damn time to read you would see that I said I own a legit copy of the software that I also have a pirated copy of. The only reason why I do not use the legit copy is because it has a feature that infringes on my privacy...whereas the pirated version doesn't. I bought a retail copy of the software just for the sake of being decent and not crummy. I see no harm in using a different version of software that I have a legit copy of just to avoid invasion of my privacy.

Now fuck off.

You stupid fuck. Going through the trouble of getting a copy means buying it. As I said, Im not a damn cheapskate. I can actually afford to buy software(I only have to work 15 hours to raise $600 since I make about $40 an hour at the computer shop ;P). Raising money to pay for software is not an issue for me..therefore I don't feel the need to turn to free knock-off alternatives to the premium apps that cost money.

Don't go around accusing people of stealing stuff when you obviously have no clue what in the hell you are talking about. Back in the day when I had Photoshop 5.0 LE I didn't really pay for it because it came bundled with my hard drive(I'm glad I was introduced to Photoshop with my new drive cause now I buy the new version everytime a new version comes out cause I like Photoshop.      ;)      ).

(EDIT)That is another big reason why I like MS software so much. When it fucks up people bring thier systems to people like us at the shop to fix it and it makes us a bunch of money. I can't hate what helps me earn %90 of my check. ;P

You fucktard, you still OWN ONE PIRATED COPY. So that means the company that made that Piece of Software is minus dollar wise the price of the item you pirated.

 Can you do simple math?

Here let me show you.

1 apple is $1.00.  I buy one apple. I dont realy like that particular apple, so I steal another apple that i like. The grocery owner is minus $1.00 dollar now and I have broken the Law.

 DO YOU COMPUTE ?? ?? ??

Yeah, but lets just say that the apple that was paid for should not invade my privacy. It should be the other way around...the stolen apple should do the invading while the legit apple that I paid for should leave me and my privacy alone.

Ok I agree you dont want your privacy violated. Fair enough (btw you just opened a can of worms now because i can take what you say and apply it on TCPA, but i wont go there).

You still broke the EULA. I am sure that somewhere in there it says that copying the software is in violation of such and such Law.
In your case, you didnt have any other choice because you wante that particular Software. So what you ended up doing? You broke the EULA.

And here lies the power of Open Source. You can Download the same Software but in different versions. Or if you know how, you can modify the code your self.

Is Gimp>Photoshop, or the other way around? I dont know because I never used those apps. But with closed source you dont have a choice. You take what they give you, no matter if you like it or not.

At the end, you go with OS or you Warez.

You might say, pff big deal, they wont go under because of one copy that I pirated, but then, since you are an advocate of Close Source, you create a Double standard for your self.

Are there OS apps that are bugy as shit. Of course. But
A) there are many other apps that do the same job as the apps that are closed source (and in many cases, they do a better job).

and
B) even if its bugy, the pace of development of OS is so rapid, that new and improved versions will come out in a heartbeat, simply because the code is open.

BTW i understand that GIMP offers many many many plugins to Download. But as I said, i never used graphic apps, so I do nt know which one is better.

What am I lying about? I already admitted that I have 1 piece of pirated software(and no it isn't Photoshop) and I already stated my reasons for having that piece of pirated software(hey at least I gave the company money for me using thier software by buying a legit copy). You can keep on convincing yourself that I stole Photoshop even though I didn't. I don't really give a good god damn what you have to say because you are a fucking moron.

(EDIT)Also, if you waqnt to be exact on how much Photoshop 7.0 costed me, it wasn't $600...It costed $530. ;P

Your  Math lesson is flawed buddy. Do you really think it costs companies more than a dollar or 2 to copy a CD that they already have produced millions of copies of, stick a manual and a few papers in a pretty box and shrink wrap the box? If you really think stealing a dollar or 2 then giving the company several hundred dollars to buy a legit copy is wrong you are the fucking retard.

Ahh, I see that you realize that I'm right. That pirated copy of the software I paid for did not hurt the company at all. They may not have made any profits off of the pirated copy, but what the hell, they only lost a couple of bucks. That isn't a bad thing considering that they got thier profits from me when I bought the legit copy(a few hunderd $$$ definatley makes up for the whole dollar or 2 they lost when I got a non-legit copy). Now fuck off.

Buddy, you are the fucktard. You don't even know how Corporate America works. I'm not joking when I say it only costs a couple of dollars to make a CD and package it. The modern way of manufacturing stuff called Mass Production makes it possible for a product(especially a product on a CD) to be manufactured and packaged at a minimal cost. Honestly, there is no piece of software worth several hundred $$$(paying that price for anything on a CD is a major rip-off) but that is just the way it is. How do you think software companies that start out with virtually nothing manage to get rich so quick? They get rich by the means of Mass Production and inflation.

Coconuts kill more people in the world than sharks do. Approximately 150 people are killed each year by coconuts.

Like I really care. Now quit trolling and say something that is actually relevant to the discussion. Oh wait, you can't debunk the truth can you?

HEre is a little example of how software is really worth several hundred $$$(NOT)

Microsoft sells it's OSes anywhere between $79 - $250 retail. They sell the very same software to OEM's and colleges for $5. They do not lose any money when they sell the OSes for $5 a pop(if they did lose money they wouldn't offer it at such a cheap price to anyone). They spend that couple of dollars and sell the thing for $5..they still made a profit(no losses).

MS sells Office XP Professional at a suggested retail price of $579....but they sell it to OEM's and colleges for about $10 a pop and don't lose money(for the very same reason).

Since you think that you are bright I'm sure that you can comprehend the fact that piracy does not hurt software companies at all(it would take 125 pirated copies of
Windows XP Professional full for MS to lose the $250 that they charge for 1 copy of XP Professional), it actually helps the software makers. Since the ratio of XP piracy is like 6 people bought a legit copy to 1 pirated copy. MS makes roughly around $1485(after the cost of manufacturing the product) from those 6 copies of XP then they lose $2 for the 1 pirated copy. Now you tell me, do you think that pirated copy really hurt MS? The pirated copy helps MS because it just adds to how many people use Windows(thus gives MS a tighter grip of the market). Software companies will not admit this, but they like piracy because piracy makes thier software more popular and used by more people. When a friend of a person with a pirated copy of software tries the pirated software and likes it, chances are that friend will go out and buy a copy of that software he/she liked. So when the company loses $2 it opens up the potential of more people buying the software because they got to try it(on a friends box) and liked it(which in turn will make that $2 loss turn into a several hundred or maybe even several thousand dollar profit).

Maybe so, but your random facts have nothing to do with the discussion. I do not give a fuck about coconuts killing people, I do not care about a steam powered lawn sprinkler, etc.

I really don't care about how Corporations work either, but I have to break my back just to tell the truth about how the world works just to prove that my 1 copy of pirated software did not and never will hurt the company who made the software(especially considering that they did make a huge profit off of me since I actually bought the legit software).

I do not know why I even waste my time trying to talk to people who do not pay money for software anyways. It is like talking to a brick wall.

Hell no. You aren't going to get a god damn penny out of me. Besides, you probably would have some malicious code in your software just because you dislike Win32.

why won't you buy his software? windows is turfed out by a bunch of hacks who don't give a shit, and it certainly contains a lot of anti-win32 code, but you seem happy to lash out $400 every two years for windows, so why won't you buy a cheaper product off of bazoukas? maybe he should raise the price, so you know it's worth your while to buy it.

1) why didn't you do this in the first place?

2) isn't that violating your licence agreement?

3) VERY IMPORTANT POINT: I too have NO pirated software on my computer. Currently the licences I have for my software allow me to have everything installed on my machine. I have windows millenium (bought with the computer), Nero 5.0 and 5.5 (5.0 bought with the CDwriter, and 5.5 is free to those who bought 5.5) and Mandrake 9.0 and the hundreds of applications (GIMP, Quanta, Mozilla, GFTP, OpenOffice.org et c, far too many to list) all come free with, well, themselves! So you can fuck off if you think you are going to label me as some pirater, dumbass.

Zombie, you ranting and raving about how you have no pirated software makes you look more guilty.  If you really dont have any pirated stuff then who cares, its the internet, do you really care that much what people say about you here?  While on the subject I aint gonna lie I got some pirated stuff.  Hell I aint going out and paying $1000 for final cut pro when im just making videos at home and with my homies.  Now if I was making some sort of profit off of what im doing I would buy the software without a doubt.  Weather this is right or wrong I guess is up to you, I really dont care and I dont have $1000 left after buying my computer.  Its like this: you want a soda but you have no cash, then you see the guy who delivers them with hundreds of sodas, but then he drops one and doesnt notice; what do you do?  Me, I grab the soda cause im thirsty.  I know it sucks but I really dont care.
